Brass Quintet

Harrison's Crossing
by Zack Smith
Price: $25

Transposed parts can be ordered.

This is an expansion of a piece Zack originally wrote in 2024 for brass quartet.  The first movement is a short fanfare to get things rolling.  The second movement is done in the style of Percy Grainger's "Children's March" with a jaunty melody and surprising musical twists.  The third movement is a harmonically thick French horn feature inspired by Billy Strayhorn's "Chelsea Bridge".  The last movement starts with a fast and furious trumpet solo inspired by Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse".  The tuba gets featured on the melody as well, then it goes into a mood shift that features the trombone.  Everyone gets their moments to shine in this composition, and should find challenges throughout.
