When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
text by Isaac Watts
music by Lowell Mason
arr. Kent Baker
Price: $10

Transposed parts can be ordered.

This is a lovely French horn feature.  The solo part is very similar to, but not exactly the same as, the horn & piano (or flugel & piano) version on the Trumpet Solos page.

Isaac Watts composed most of his beloved hymns while at Southampton, England's, Above Bar Congregational Church from 1690 to 1696.  The hymns were published in 1707 and included "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," which was originally entitled "Crucifixion to the World, by the Cross of Christ," an unwieldy title changed by the publisher.  It was inspired by Galatians 6:14, and Charles Wesley said he would rather have written it than all of his own hymns.
