This is a fairly faithful big band adaptation of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic as sung by Dionne
Warwick. It is in the same key that Dionne sang it with a short two bar intro to establish key
center. 16 bars have been added to the middle of the arrangement to
accommodate a trumpet solo (written
in the 4th trumpet part). Alto 1 needs to double on flute (though the chart will still work if they
can't). Not too rangy in the trumpets or trombone -- top trumpet note is a written B, top trombone
note is a written F. This arrangement will be a great way to showcase a strong female singer.
Instrumentation is 5 saxes, 6 brass, 4 rhythm.
Playable by 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone and 3 rhythm.
