This big band arrangement is loosely based on the Ahmad Jamal version of "Poinciana" and incorporates the unique
drum groove that Vernel Fournier played on the original recording. The Tenor Sax 1 is featured on a chorus
of improv, and the guitar and bass also have brief written solos. Instrument ranges are not demanding, but
this would be considered a Grade 2 chart due to a couple tricky rhythms in the soli section. Arrangement
comes with optional Percussion, Flute, Bb Clarinet and F Horn parts.
Instrumentation is 5 saxes, 6 brass, 4 rhythm.
Playable by 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone and 3 rhythm.
