Trumpeters will rarely, if ever, get the opportunity to perform the classic works
that include the most famous trumpet orchestral repertoire – even if they are a member of an
orchestra. These duets can give trumpeters a chance to perform key orchestral trumpet parts
combined with main themes from other instruments in order to learn the context of the popular
excerpts and get some idea of what the piece should sound like from a stylistic standpoint.
